Benjamin Langer "Ben" Bass (born August 14, 1968 ) is a television and stage actor. Bass was born in Baltimore, Maryland. At age 7, he moved with his family to Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. He speaks French fluently. He started in television on the show 21 Jump Street and his stage career in Angry Housewives. He was nominated for a Vancouver Jesse Award for best supporting actor in Angry Housewives. After originating the stage role of the young Elvis Presley in Are You Lonesome Tonight at The Charlottetown Festival, PEI, he studied acting at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art and at L'École Internationale de Théâtre Jacques Lecoq in Paris.
Returning to Canada he appeared in television guest roles before becoming a regular cast member of the series Forever Knight as the 16th century Spanish vampire Javier Vachon. He also appeared at the Stratford (Ontario) Festival and The Atlantic Theatre Festival in Nova Scotia. Bass has appeared in the TV series Beggars and Choosers, First Wave, Monk, Flashpoint (Season 1 Episode 3), Queer as Folk, Law & Order, Dead Like Me (episode 11 season 1 "The Bicycle Thief"), Stargate SG-1 (season 4 episode 13 as Steven), and Tom Stone, as well as in made-for-TV movies Last Exit (2006), The Love Crimes of Gillian Guess (2004), Bonanno: A Godfather’s Story (1999), and Murder in a Small Town (1999). Bass was cast in the television series Rookie Blue, which premiered in June 2010.
He was nominated for a Gemini Award for his lead role in the Canadian drama series The Eleventh Hour and recently starred in a TV miniseries Would Be Kings for which he received his second Gemini nomination. His film career includes A Cool Dry Place, Bride of Chucky and The 6th Day.
On June 14, 2011 , he married actress Laura Carswell (now Laura Carswell Bass).
